Association of
Building Compliance

Established in 1998 the Association of Building Compliance (ABC) is the only IQP representative body in New Zealand. ABC’s membership includes Independently Qualified Persons (IQPs), Council Staff and Compliance Managers. ABC provides members with support, information and training by industry experts in Building Compliance matters.

Regularly scheduled meetings are currently held in Auckland, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch and enable general networking and education between members. Representatives from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment regularly attend as speakers or guests and ABC lobby’s Government in regard to Building Compliance issues and matters. As membership grows, ABC will look to holding additional meetings in other regions.

Attending an Association meeting provides members with the opportunity to meet other IQP providers, key Council members and Experts in Building Compliance, to compliment roles in the Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) Industry. Members get to meet and learn from guest speakers, have pressing questions answered, obtain another’s opinion and enjoy personal and industry professional development, whilst easily networking with others involved in the BWOF process.

Training Officer - Technical Building Compliance and Specified Systems

The Association of Building Compliance is currently looking for a Training Officer – Technical Building Compliance and Specified Systems. Due to the success and continued demand for quality training, we are now looking for a Technical Training Officer to join our team.  We are focused on attracting someone who is passionate about using their skills and experience to provide training within the building compliance sector.

Reporting to the National Technical Officer, this newly created role will be responsible for assisting the development and delivery of technical training.  You will be a great communicator, with hands-on technical knowledge and experience from working in the building compliance sector and will have in depth knowledge of the New Zealand Building Act, Building Regulations, Acceptable Solutions and New Zealand technical standards for specified systems.  Ideally, you will also have experience or a qualification in adult education/professional development practices and coaching at an intermediate or advance level.

You will build relationships and use your previous practical experience to train and support a range of people at different stages of their career.

Working from home, the Association is flexible in terms of location and as such the ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated as well as able to travel extensively throughout New Zealand.  The 2021 start date will be flexible as the Association is committed to finding the right person for this role.
