Auckland TrainUP

Time: 7.30am - 9.30 am

Location: 146 Selwyn Street, Onehunga, Auckland (Get Directions)

As all IQPs should be aware by now, Auckland Council have engaged a private contractor to undertake audits as allowed under the Building Act.  For various reasons, this has had a large impact on many who undertake BWoF work for some clients.  Statements have been made that are not factual, some IQPs what to know if they need to attend the audits and the biggest area of confusion is the annual report requirements under Section 110 of the Building Act.  ABC also had a meeting with the Council contractor and we can share with you what some of the discussion had which will be of interest to you.  The Association of Building Compliance has also written to MBIE regarding the Annual Report requirements and we want to share their reply with you and clarify what is actually require so you can decide how to comply with the Building Act.

These audits will affect you and your clients at some stage, so you need to be prepared - we therefore encourage you to attend this meeting.

Surveys, Inspection and there are still problems

Sprinkler Systems are surveyed every two years.  What is the surveyor looking for in particular?  How is it possible that a new building can have faults on its first anniversary?  Across all disciplines IQPs will have faced the issue of a brand new building with faults.  In theory at the time the Code Compliance certificate is issued the building should be fault free so how does this conundrum arise?

Speaker:  Stephen Ridder - Aon Technical Services

Stephen has spent the last 20 plus years in the sprinkler industry.  First working as a contractor and then the last 4 as a certifier and inspector.

Wellington TrainUP
