Conference 2024

31 July - 1 August, Rutherford Hotel - Nelson

Following on from our amazing conference last year and the Fire Risk Assessments that were presented by Ben Bradford from BB7:
• What is Risk Management to you?
• What do you do or need to do to reduce risk in your business through enhanced Inspection, Maintenance and Reporting procedures?
• Are we at risk of NZ Standards or International Standards not keeping pace with technology and putting our compliance regime under undue pressure?
Risk Management has prevention at its core. It involves the implementation of measures to eliminate or reduce the likelihood of hazards that could lead to fires or compromise the safety of building occupants. This encompasses a comprehensive approach that begins with innovative and thoughtful design, follows through with rigorous construction practices – which is a moving landscape with new construction methods – and extends into ongoing inspection and maintenance protocols, which is where most of us become involved.
By embracing prevention with good management procedures, we can empower ourselves to anticipate and address potential issues before they escalate. We are investing in life safety, not just for the present, but for the future. Through education, innovation, and collaboration, we can create a built environment that can be more resilient in the face of unforeseen events.
In this conference, we come together to share industry insights, best practices, and cutting-edge technologies that enable us to enhance building safety and reduce our risks. By promoting a culture of prevention and instilling effective risk management practices, we ignite a brighter, safer future for all.

Master of Ceremonies

He's Back! The one and only Mr Lyall Senior

It's true, we have secured Lyall for another year. He had so much fun last year he has begged us to take him back, I think Mitchell has some true competition now as our longest running MC.

Lyall is bringing back his enthusiasm and humour to make the conference a more entertaining and smooth flowing conference and hopefully one that is inclusive of everyone's needs.

For those who may not know, Lyall is now very experienced as an MC, having undertaken his very first MC role just last year – where no rotten fruit was thrown or heckling was experienced. Lyall has no experience as a fire fighter, has not worked in the fire or sprinkler field, nor has any qualifications in the fire compliance space – so totally and completed nothing like Mitchell, but he is very very knowledgeable in the lift and escalator space, providing independent advice and consultancy services to Owners and property managers for the past 20+ years, which is on top of his 21+ years working for a multinational lift company.

Exhibitors

We would like to thank all our exhibitors from our Conference 2023. Exhibitors sharing their products, information and knowledge at our conference, gave our members that added professional development that can only come from specialist in their fields. These Exhibitors certainly raised the bar for our conference.

We would like to encourage our previous exhibitors and any other companies who would like to showcase their product, information, skills and knowledge to download our new Exhibitor brochure here and get in early for Conference 2024.

Our Partners

We would like to thank our Partners for supporting our Association. Without companies like these who provide financial support to us, we would not be able to continue to develop new courses, develop and update industry standards, Codes of Practices and Compliance Handbooks.

For information about becoming a Partner of the Association and the benefits of it, please click here to view our brochure. If you would like to become a Partner of our Association, please complete the form in the brochure and send it to admin@abciqp.org.nz.
